People are making many comparisons between the situation America is facing right now and the situation America was facing in the 1930’s. Most of these comparisons are based on economic factors, but we at VideoBloom have come up with a comparison that is not based on the economic gloom and doom. In the 1930’s, then president Franklin Roosevelt gave a series of speeches over the radio addressing various issues confronting the American people that became known as the fireside chats. It has come to our attention the President-elect Obama seems to be launching a similar campaign, but instead of the radio, Obama is using online video.
On his transition YouTube channel, ChangeDotGov, there is a series of videos entitled ‘Your Weekly Addresses’. These videos have addressed topics ranging from his cabinet choices to the economy and together they have generated over 3 million views. His first weekly address, released on November 15, alone has received over a million views. It seems that Obama capitalized on the huge role online video played in his presidency campaign, and it appears he will continue to utilize this powerful tool to keep the interest of the American people throughout his presidency. We have always believed in the power of online video, but for those of you who are still unsure, take a tip from the next President of the United States.
